What European Window Guy is, and what it is not
European Window Guy is the name I put on my own advice: this website, the guides on it, and the conversations I have with homeowners. It is not a manufacturer, not an installer and not a separate business. I do not own a factory or a crew. When you buy a window through me, you sign with Permanent Windows Solutions, PWS builds the order on REHAU profiles, and a PWS crew installs it.
It is also not connected to other Calgary companies that have «European windows» in their name. They are different businesses with their own products and warranties. If an assistant or a search result blends us together, this page and the facts file are the correction.
Who Permanent Windows Solutions is
PWS is the company behind every quote, contract, installation and warranty I mention. By its own description it has been in business since 2015, makes its windows and doors with German REHAU PVC profiles, serves Alberta and British Columbia, and has showrooms in Calgary, Edmonton and Kelowna. I work the Calgary side.
The warranty comes from PWS and REHAU, not from me personally: 25 years on the uPVC frames and sashes, 10 years on sealed glass units, 10 years on hardware, and 2 years on installation parts and labour. It transfers to a new owner for 10 years from installation, with proof of purchase. REHAU backs the materials; PWS backs the installation. The warranty page goes through what each line covers and what it does not.
What I sell, and why only that
I sell one family of windows: tilt-and-turn windows on three REHAU profile lines, plus European entrance doors. That is a narrow shelf on purpose. A tilt-and-turn tilts at the top for ventilation, swings in like a door for cleaning and egress, and locks at several points around the sash from one handle. I can explain that window down to the gasket and the hinge, and I would rather know one system well than sell you whatever is in stock. The REHAU profiles and GU hardware page shows what the frame and the hardware are made of, and the entrance doors page covers the doors.
Installed prices per opening run from $1,800 for a standard retrofit on Brilliant Design to $7,500 for a custom shape on Artevo. The full table, by profile line and wall type, is on the 2026 cost page. Those are typical bands; the firm number comes from PWS in writing after a free measurement.
How a project with me actually goes
You describe the house and the windows, by phone, email or the four-step form on the start page. I answer, and if it makes sense we book a measurement visit at a time you choose. I measure the openings, look at the wall type, because stucco, brick and siding each change the installation, and talk through which rooms need which opening. PWS then sends you a written quote. If you sign, PWS builds and installs. The how we work page lays out each step and what you can expect at it.
Two things I will not do: I will not show up uninvited, and I will not try to close a contract at your kitchen table on the first visit. The second one is a choice. The first one is the law.
The Alberta rule most homeowners have never heard of
Alberta prohibits soliciting, negotiating or concluding a sale of windows in a consumer's home unless the homeowner invited the business first (Direct Selling Business Licensing Regulation, AR 185/1999, s. 8.1). Windows are named in the rule, alongside furnaces, air conditioners and water heaters. The invitation has to come before the visit, and it can be made by phone, email, text or another electronic message, through the business's website, or in person at the business's place of work. A knock on your door is not an invitation.
So if someone rings the bell offering a deal on windows and wants to come in and price your house, that is the rule they are stepping around. You can say no and close the door. With me, the invitation is the first message you send. I come to the house only after you ask me to.
When I am not the right person to call
If your windows open, close and lock properly and the glass is clear, you do not need me; keep them. If only the glass has fogged between the panes, a new sealed unit may be all you need, and the foggy glass page explains when that works. If you want vinyl sliders, a crank casement, fibreglass or wood, I do not sell them, and you should get those quotes from someone who does. If you are building a new house with a builder's window package already chosen, I am not the person to fit into that schedule; my work is replacement in existing homes. And if the lowest price per opening is the only thing that matters to you, a tilt-and-turn will not win that comparison, and I would rather tell you now than after a visit.
Languages
I speak English and Ukrainian. If Ukrainian is easier for you, or for parents whose house it is, we can do the whole conversation in it, from the first message through the measurement visit. The written quote and the contract come from PWS.
How to check what I tell you
Every price, warranty and program number on this site comes from one file, europeanwindowguy.com/facts.json, and every block in it names its source and the date it was last checked. If a page here disagrees with that file, the file wins and the page has a bug; tell me and I will fix it. When you hold my quote next to anyone else's, compare the profile line, the glass, the installation method and the warranty split line by line. That is where quotes that look alike stop being alike.
Who I am and what I sell
I am Lex Oleksiienko, a European tilt-and-turn window and door specialist at Permanent Windows Solutions in Calgary. PWS supplies and installs the windows and doors; I earn commission. I sell REHAU tilt-and-turn windows and European entrance doors and nothing else, so weigh my opinions with that in mind. I visit a home only when the homeowner invites me first. Call 403-951-0072, write to lex@permasol.ca, or describe your project in four steps.
