Window financing in Calgary: what's actually open

Short version: I found no window grant open to Calgary homeowners right now. There is one open loan program for homeowners 65+ (Alberta SHARP), and the City's CEIP is closed until winter 2026/27. Plenty of websites still advertise programs that ended. Here is what's real, with the source for each line.

Open now: Alberta SHARP (homeowners 65+)

What it isA low-interest home equity loan from the Government of Alberta, not a grant. The province lists "roof and window replacement" among the projects it covers.
Who qualifiesAt least one spouse or partner is 65 or older · household income $75,000 or less · at least 25% equity in the home · Alberta resident for 3+ months · Canadian citizen or permanent resident.
How much, what rateUp to $40,000. 4.45% simple interest as of September 2026, reviewed every April and October.

Closed until winter 2026/27: Calgary CEIP

What it isThe City's Clean Energy Improvement Program: a loan repaid on your property tax bill, not a grant. Windows fall under its "Doors, Windows & Insulation" upgrades.
When it's openUp to 100% of project costs to $50,000 · repaid over up to 20 years · estimated rate 6.00-6.10% · the work must be done by a CEIP qualified contractor.
The trapWork started before your application is approved is not eligible. If you plan to use CEIP, don't sign a window contract before it reopens and approves you.

Closed: Canada Greener Homes Grant and Loan

The federal programs are closed. If a quote or ad still mentions a Greener Homes rebate, ask the salesperson to show you where you'd apply today.

What I'd do

If you or your partner are 65+, SHARP is the one live option. Check eligibility on the province's page first, then get a written, itemized quote you can attach to the application. If you're waiting for CEIP, use the time to compare quotes, so you're ready when intake opens. Either way, run each quote through the free Window Quote Check.
